Bustin it on the treadmill

I will fully admit:  I am not a treadmill fan!  It makes me tired.  I think it’s just that I’m bored so I decide I’m tired.  You know how the brain works.  It decides all kinds of things.  It tells you that you want candy when your bored…..right out of the blue.  You’re trying to get something monotonous done and, “I think I need a mounds,” jumps right out of nowhere.  You’ll even argue, telling yourself that you just ate.  But that was green, healthy stuff so the brain says, “nope, we’re hungry and a mounds is needed!”  So…..to get past the boredom thing, lets mix it up on the treadmill.  Do something that requires full attention and effort.  Try this interval workout when you need a bit of movement or the brain is yelling for candy.  Give it this boost instead.  This can be a walk or a run….your style.

Warm up with a 5 minute build up.  Start at about 50% effort and finish at 85%.

Do 1 minute at 50%.

30 seconds at 65%.

30seconds at 85%.

Repeat those 3 intervals 10 times

After the last 85% interval, gradually slow that down…..75% to 70 to 65% to 60.  Gradually get to 50% over a 5 minute period.

Make sure you get a bit of stretching in to finish that off

As always work in your ability level and work on good form…..abs in, shoulders relaxed and  back- not slouched, knees and toes on point.
